Training Program Updates

Here are some of the new updates we’ve recently made to the Frequent Flyer Solutions training program.

As a reminder, unlimited access to the Frequent Flyer Solutions training program is available to all Business Class & First Class members! If you’re a Premium Economy or Economy member, you can access the first unit of every course for free or upgrade your membership to gain full access.

New section on Qantas status runs for Points Club members

We recently updated Unit 2.1.3 (Qantas Points Club) with more information about earning status credits for Qantas Classic Flight Reward flights. We also added a new section to Unit 8.1.2 (Status Runs) with very detailed information about Qantas Classic Flight Reward status runs for Points Club members.

Added Sniip to our list of ATO payment services

Sniip has emerged as a viable and potentially lucrative payment service for paying ATO tax bills using an American Express credit card. Sniip allows you to pay bills using an Amex card, earning points at the full Amex rate, for a 1.5% surcharge (including GST). That’s the lowest in the market for American Express.

We’ve updated Unit 3.3.2 (Earn Points for Tax Payments) with information about Sniip.

Flybuys increases Velocity points conversion rate

Flybuys points can now be converted to Virgin Australia Velocity points at a rate of 1,000 flybuys points = 500 Velocity points. That’s a 15% improvement over the old rate of 2,000 flybuys points = 870 Velocity points. Updated Unit 9.2.1 (Flybuys & Everyday Rewards).

Updated information on discounted Woolworths gift cards

Unfortunately, Cashrewards and many other organisations stopped providing a 5% discount on Woolworths Group discounts in late 2020. The game has now changed, but there are still plenty of options to get a 4-5% discount on Woolworths gift cards. We’ve updated Unit 3.3.3 (Gift Vouchers) with the details.

Velocity Global Wallet discontinued

Velocity Global Wallet, the debit card on the back of many Velocity Frequent Flyer cards, was discontinued on 1 February 2021. The product is no longer associated with Velocity Frequent Flyer, and there are now fees to withdraw any cash balance remaining on these cards. We’ve removed references to this product from various training units.

Updates to credit card sign-up offers

We continuously update the Credit Card Master List from Unit 3.2.4 (Choosing a Credit Card), as well as Unit 3.3.1 (Bonus Sign-up Points), at the start of every month. This was last updated on 1 February 2021.
