Frequent Flyer Training Updates

Here are some of the recent changes to loyalty programs and new updates we’ve made to the Frequent Flyer Solutions training over the past month, as of June 2022.

As a reminder, Business & First Class members enjoy unlimited access to the Frequent Flyer Solutions training program. If you’re a Premium Economy or Economy member, you can access the first unit of every course for free or upgrade your membership to gain full access!

Virgin Australia launches partnership with United

In late May, Virgin Australia launched a frequent flyer partnership with United Airlines. Members of both Velocity Frequent Flyer and United MileagePlus can now earn and redeem points across both airlines.

Virgin Australia is ending its partnership with Delta on 13 June 2022.

New IHG One Rewards status match & challenge

IHG One Rewards is giving free Platinum Elite status for 120 days and a shortcut to extending Platinum Elite or earning Diamond Elite status. This offer is available until 31 July 2022, and details have been added to Unit 8.1.5 (Hotel Status Shortcuts).

Finnair now offers round-the-world tickets in Premium Economy

Finnair recently began offering round-the-world fares in Premium Economy (in addition to its existing Business and Economy options) after installing Premium Economy seats on selected long-haul aircraft. We’ve updated Unit 7.2.2 (Other Cheap Round-the-World Tickets).

Russian airlines removed from global alliances

S7 Airlines is no longer a Oneworld alliance member, while Aeroflot is no longer a SkyTeam member. We’ve removed references to these airlines as being members of these alliances throughout the training program.

International travel restriction updates

All interstate travel restrictions have now been removed, and there are no longer any additional Australian federal, state or territory government restrictions on unvaccinated Australian citizens or residents returning to the country. Updated Unit 10.2.7 (Travel in a Post-COVID World).

Updates to credit card sign-up offers

We continuously update the Credit Card Master List in Unit 3.2.4 (Choosing a Credit Card), as well as the current Australian credit card sign-up offers in Unit 3.3.1 (Bonus Sign-up Points), at the start of every month. This was last updated on 2 June 2022.

CommBank Awards updates airline partners

CommBank Awards has removed the option to transfer points to the following frequent flyer programs:

  • Japan Airlines Mileage Bank
  • Malaysia Airlines Enrich
  • Lufthansa Miles&More
  • China Eastern Miles

But CommBank Awards has also added the ability to transfer points to these new loyalty program partners:

  • Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
  • Emirates Skywards
  • United MileagePlus
  • Air Canada Aeroplan
  • Accor ALL
  • Marriott Bonvoy
  • Wyndham Rewards
