Frequent Flyer Training Updates
Here are some of the recent changes to loyalty programs and new updates we’ve made to the Frequent Flyer Solutions training over the past month, as of September 2022.
As a reminder, Business & First Class members enjoy unlimited access to the Frequent Flyer Solutions training program. If you’re a Premium Economy or Economy member, you can access the first unit of every course for free or upgrade your membership to gain full access!
Qatar Airways is now a Virgin Australia partner
As of 6 September 2022, Velocity Frequent Flyer members can earn and redeem points, and earn status credits, for Qatar Airways flights! We’ve updated Unit 2.2.1 (Earn Velocity Points & Status Credits) and Unit 2.2.2 (Redeem Velocity Points).
Asia Miles & Marco Polo Club merge to become “Cathay”
In August 2022, Cathay Pacific retired its separate Asia Miles and Marco Polo Club loyalty programs, combining them into a new program simply called Cathay. We’ve updated Unit 2.3.2 (Cathay Pacific’s Cathay Program) with the new details.
Virgin Australia launches ongoing status challenge
Virgin Australia now has an ongoing status match challenge called Discover Velocity Gold which is available to eligible frequent flyers of other airlines. We’ve added a section to Unit 8.1.4 (Status Challenges) with the details.
Aeroplan changes
Air Canada’s Aeroplan made a couple of changes to the program on 1 September 2022. Some award prices have slightly increased, while stopovers can now be booked online. We’ve updated Unit 4.2.6 (Air Canada Aeroplan).
New Qantas Frequent Flyer partner
Qantas Frequent Flyer members can now earn points at restaurants owned by Seagrass Boutique Hospitality Group including Italian Street Kitchen and 6HEAD. Updated Unit 2.1.1 (Earn Qantas Points & Status Credits).
KrisFlyer Spree discontinued
The “online mall” of the Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer program, KrisFlyer Spree has been decommissioned. It’s no longer possible to earn KrisFlyer miles through this online shopping portal. Updated Unit 2.3.1 (Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer).
Updates to credit card sign-up offers
We continuously update the Credit Card Master List in Unit 3.2.4 (Choosing a Credit Card), as well as the current Australian credit card sign-up offers in Unit 3.3.1 (Bonus Sign-up Points), at the start of every month. This was last updated on 6 September 2022.
