Frequent Flyer Training Updates

Here are some of the recent changes to loyalty programs and new updates we’ve made to the Frequent Flyer Solutions training over the past month, as of August 2022.

As a reminder, Business & First Class members enjoy unlimited access to the Frequent Flyer Solutions training program. If you’re a Premium Economy or Economy member, you can access the first unit of every course for free or upgrade your membership to gain full access!

Point transfers between Velocity & KrisFlyer reinstated

On 21 July 2022, Velocity Frequent Flyer and Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer reinstated the ability to convert points and miles between both programs at a 1.55:1 rate. We’ve updated Unit 2.2.3 (Transferring Velocity Points to KrisFlyer) will full details about how this works.

Updates to the Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer program

On 1 August 2022, the KrisFlyer program increased the number of miles you’ll need to redeem for Virgin Australia flights. From the same date, KrisFlyer also made changes to its stopover rules on KrisFlyer award bookings. We’ve updated Unit 2.3.1 (Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer).

Singapore Airlines also increased the cost last month of its KrisFlyer Star Alliance Round-the-World Award. We’ve updated Unit 7.2.3 (Round-the-World using Points).

Two new airline status matches

TAP Air Portugal (a Star Alliance member) and ITA Airways (a new member of the SkyTeam alliance) have both brought back their elite status match offers. Details in Unit 8.1.3 (Status Matches).

Bankwest Qantas Transaction account has removed international transaction & overseas ATM fees

The Bankwest Qantas Transaction account was already in our sights as a way to earn Qantas points with a debit card, and on your account balance. Now, the product also comes with no international transaction fees and you can earn Qantas points for overseas ATM withdrawals while no longer paying overseas ATM withdrawal fees.

We’ve updated our section on this product in Unit 3.4.1 (Point-Earning Alternatives to Credit Cards), and added it to our list of debit cards without forex fees in Unit 10.1.1 (Travel Money, Debit & Card Cards).

Change to Etihad Guest airline partners

Etihad Guest miles can no longer be redeemed for flights on Bangkok Airways. We’ve updated Unit 4.2.7 (Etihad Guest).

Updates to credit card sign-up offers

We continuously update the Credit Card Master List in Unit 3.2.4 (Choosing a Credit Card), as well as the current Australian credit card sign-up offers in Unit 3.3.1 (Bonus Sign-up Points), at the start of every month. This was last updated on 7 August 2022.
