Star Alliance for Australians
For Australian frequent flyers, Star Alliance can offer an excellent alternative to Virgin Australia, Qantas and the Oneworld alliance.
11 of the 27 Star Alliance member airlines fly to Australia, including Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines, Air Canada, ANA and South African Airways. Despite recent changes to Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, United Mileage Plus and Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus, there are still some distinct advantages that Star Alliance brings to the table.
Star Alliance typically has far better award availability than Oneworld airlines on flights to and from Australia. This is matched by some extremely competitive award pricing with many Star Alliance frequent flyer programs. And it's not difficult at all to earn points and miles with Star Alliance airlines in Australia, including from credit cards and sign-up bonuses.
It's also surprisingly easy to earn Star Alliance status! Multiple Star Alliance programs offer free status matches, and several programs make it extremely easy to earn and maintain status from scratch. Some Star Alliance airlines also partner with Virgin Australia, meaning you can use your status benefits and redeem miles when flying domestically as well.
In this upcoming webinar, Matt will show you which Star Alliance frequent flyer programs to join and how to maximise your returns as an Australian. This one-hour webinar will cover…
